11hp gain from a V8 Ford engine just from friction modifier agent... That's pretty respectable... So on a smaller engine running higher tolerances and engine speeds, that figure would likely be similar, but with higher percentage of the total power too...

I had heard of this but never looked into it. Our garage uses Eneos Oil with good affect. I'll have to try mixing this in.

LS430_Dyno_Ran_Up_1 by Moto@Club4AG, on FlickrAS you can see from my LS430 test... Parameters using the same engine oil, with RSR Ran Up Additive. The HP gain was mild but still notable at about 4-5 HP net gain, despite the higher ambient temperature and water temp, and consistent with character of the engine torque curve.
 LS430_Dyno_Ran_Up_2 by Moto@Club4AG, on Flickr
What is more notable is the proof here that there is much less friction, as reflected in the greatly reduced oil temperature, despite the higher ambient temperature, while providing the extra HP. Not shown objectively here, also, the idling of the engine had much less vibrations in the case of the LS430, and the throttle response on city driving seemed to improve noticeably, and I did gain a whopping 2 MPG average on the way back from Irvine, compared to on the way there with the plain engine oil.

They still want to collect data on the actual performance of different cars, so bring what you have, cars, trucks, go-karts... Let's test them all... It's free during the campaign period!

It is a molecular level nano-ceramic particle that blends with oil until it coats your metal and alloy surfaces. The base material is used on spacecrafts and robotic/moving parts where they cannot use liquid lubricants. RSR has developed a way to suspend this in a oil-soluble matter that can be simply added to your engine oil in 350ml quantity that can treat most smaller engines. Of course, more is required for larger V8 and large sump engines. So no...it's the same idea as some, but formula and base materials may be different. This is not an oil modifier, more than it is a metal surface treatment.

So putting aside the fluff, is this product a ceramic particle additive, using ceramic particles instead of moly dust as a friction reducer? Ceramic particles of roughly a 1/10th micron size, so they'll flow through oil filters without being strained out?Since shipping "chemicals" across state lines requires that a material safety data sheet (MSDS) be made readily available for them, how about a link to the MSDS which would tell us more about what's in the stuff? RS-R USA is, I presume, doing what the major oil companies have done for many decades now, and offering an express warranty against engine failures caused by the use of their product? i.e. a lube oil failure related to the product use? Because Mobil will replace my engine if it fails from an engine oil problem--but not if I put in a bottle of other "stuff". (If RS-S isn't offering that, they might want to get on the bandwagon, it makes for good sales.) And how many extra hp can we expect from a 112bhp engine that's already running a good 5w30 synthetic motor oil to start with? I'm curious, and there's a dyno near me. But I'd like some more information on the steak, not just the sizzle.

We've ran Yoshie's stock 4A-GE, and here's what Taka observed: "After all, the RS-R Run UP oil additive gave us 6°C drop on oil temp and slight increase in hp. The over 150k mile 4AG is now idling smoother than ever and respond to my right foot quicker" What I myself observed during the same session of the 4A-GE (16V stock, TVIS) is that the engine noise and vibrations were noticeably reduced, and idling was a bit smoother. Also a very sharp drop in oil temperature through out the range for successive pulls, despite the warmer water temps and intake air temp. We didn't see much HP gains in this application but that just may be due to the engine's own capability being tapped out by some peripheral limitations like intake or exhaust efficiency more than the friction elements. I am thinking the reduction in friction and resulting lower temperatures is a merit alone in a 4AG, as oil temp is one of the most difficult to control element in a stock 4A-GE for use in extended track events.

A drop in oil temp sounds good, that woudl confirm less friction inside. I wouldn't be surprised if a stock engine was air-starving or something else was limiting gain. Sounds interesting, ceramic dust instead of moly.WHen you say slight increase in hp, what were you able to measure?

None in AE86 with a 4A-GE, but with huge drop in oil temp. And in my LS430, it gained 3-5 HP all throughout the powerband with same drop in oil temp as well. :D

Be VERY careful with using any friction modifiers in any engine with brand new rings.... You want to make absolutely sure the rings are bedded in BEFORE you use a product like this...
