these are two completely different engines and depends on what you want them for but here goes.. 20v for balance, good for drift and autocross2jz- no balance, maybe good at the drag strip

Here are my 2 cents on this topic. U can find information about both of these swaps on this forum. It really depends how much money you want to drop on ur car and what you want to build it for. Here are some issues your going to run into with both of these swaps. Assuming ur AE86 is a GTS. 20V Swap- Cons Ur going to have rewire the harness to making RWD, ur going to have to reroute the coolant system, and ur going to have to relocate or modify the the firewall to make it fit. Pros- u can use everything from the bellhousing back. Which makes this swap cheaper. 2jz-gte-Ish Cons, Mad Fabricating starting from the location of the radiator, engine x member, tranny x member, Firewall, Tranny tunnel, custom driveshaft, and ur going to have to choose a beefy differential. Pros- All the horse power you want! I hope this helps, but like i said, u can find this info here on this forum. Gool Luck, on ur choice.

The 2JZ is too heavy, and since it is so long from front to back, it throws it's weight very far forward. The 20v will feel much more natural to the Corolla. But if you have the need to do some crazy fabrication for a bigger engine, why not 1UZ-FE?

I have a 20v in my coupe and its fun and gets the job done. youwill just have to live with driving the slowest car in your group of friends. but I'm also building a 370hp v6 corolla. it just depends how far you are willing to go. I lightened everything on the v6 swap so it will be a lurked lower than stock weight

Hey Whitespartan, what V6 are you using that's going to produce 370hp? Pretty curious on ur swap, very intresting. Cuz i was going to do the 1uz in my other coupe, but that's engine is rated at about 250hp stock for a V8. Are you going to be doing a build thread on ur V6, i would like to keep an eye out on ur build. Thanks!

don't get me wrong my 20v coupe getsthe job done for sure. I stay alive in my drift scene with it(ls1 240'are all the rage here) Like killer said "money real money" its all a matter of preference, you can either dump 10k into a crazy awesome 20v to hit that HP mark. or drop in a more powerful engine for a lot less. people do swaps because they can't afford to make there engine as powerful, if you think about it. I've got about 6k in my 20v setup. it works don't get me wrong. and it is fun. but when you can have a lot more power for less money...... that's the only reason I think people do swaps for, now about weight, on a lot of engines people say OMG don't add more weight oh no. but few engines weigh 150lbs more than a 4ag. people say the weight kills the car.... I say put your 150lb buddy in the passenger seat and see how much the difference is now add 200 HP to that and still be able to pay your bills. hell yeah

3800s r excellent powerplants, even normally aspirated stock, will spank a cammed & boosted up gze "money pit" As much as oz/nz folks generally 'hate' american 2 valve motors, lotsa of 3800 powered rwd rollas detailed on their forums. Some folks r sharp enough to see the light.... many never will
