Yea I read through that a few times. REALLY good article.
Ok so i kind of shotgun'd this problem. while waiting on parts I took the harness back out of the car and started going through everything. tracing wires etc. Then I figured while I have it I'll go THROUGH the harness. found out someone else had been in there before I got it at some point in it's life. found half ass'd soldered wires all over the place just wrapped in electrical tape. So I went back through resoldered them and used heat shrink. Changed out the 26 pin connector just for fun while I was there to eliminate that as well.
Put it back in the car got it all wired back up and was getting spark on 2 of 4 cylinders. sweet! that's a plus. This is with a 7mgte ignitor which is grounded btw. So i started playing with the trigger wires. Started with this...
and knew it wouldn't work from this....
Now I searched and searched and searched for a wiring diagram on the IGNITOR side not the supra engine harness side as the first link shows. I'm not fully sure why it shows the supra engine harness side as most people on here don't have the supra harness... or maybe that's just me. So with no luck finding one I thought it was worth a shot to open it up and see if they were stamped or labeled like the ECU is. Sure enough it is! woot! Now mind you the ignitor I have is from a 1992 Supra. Here's the wiring for the ignitor side of things to save anyone a headache of stripping those little screws:
Now I made sure I had the correct wire on the ignitor pin by checking back to the ecu as I repinned mine and stole a plug off another harness for this to work for me and look orginal, and also because there are a couple black wires on one plug.... as so:
4agze wiring harness:
IGt - BLACK
IGf - BLACK/YELLOW
IGd - BLACK/ORANGE (smaller of the two)
+B - BLACK/ORANGE (bigger of the two)
TAC - BLACK
IG1 - BLACK/BLUE
IG2 - BLACK
the top portion is hooked up exactly the same as so:
Ignitor -> GZE harness
IGt -> IGt
IGd-A -> IGd-A
IGf -> IGf
TAC -> TAC
in case something wasn't clear with that.
Then the trigger wires seems to be the biggest issue and all I could find anywhere was changing two pins around, and not really detailed about what to what. so now to the trigger wires.
C3 (ignitor) -> IG1 (gze)
C2 (ignitor) -> IG2 (gze)
didn't use C1 as it didn't fire correctly and my CAS was only sending G1 signal no G2 hence 2 of 4 sparking.
I'm not sure if I should have posted this in a new thread or not... but here it is. haha The car fired up only to find out there's a mechanical problem in the head.... BUT that's a different issue.
Go eat your emotions.
