Every time I go to the FWD portion of club4ag it gets smaller. What's up with that? Where are all the old posts? Why not just delete it?

That's simple. 90% of the respondents on this forum drive a RWD car (AE86 or MR2 AW11).

Only us die-hards can appriciate the AE92

How far do you wanna go back? You can change the date range at the bottom of the page. That will take you back to the earliest post: 03/25/2007.

Don't the AE82s have a dedicated forum of their own? I recall some polish AE82 (FX16) on that forum that was just gorgeous!

I believe you're referring to ae82.net. It's a great site based in New Zealand or Australia, with a lot of dedicated AE82 fans. It's pretty cool to know that your car is popular abroad, but I prefer talking 4AGE's with my fellow Americans, whom I actually might meet up with and go crusing or canyon carving with

There's more than a handful of people from the states over there, it's just ae82 owners in general are getting more sparse. I haven't seen any done up near where I live.

lol thats a funny comment, well as for the 4age, the aw11, ae82 and ae86 also share the same engine. along these many people has swapped the engine. so while there is STILL no concrete info as far as the gains of doing a certian mod. from everything i've seen it seems the 4age gains the most out of raising the compression. people always tend to overcam these engines and do not run enough static compression to make up what is bleed. so i guess what im trying to say here is, since these cars all share the same engine. this department atlest should not be low on info. although i still feel its lower than ALOT of the other car makers out there considering, as i've mentions how many people actually have the 4age.

on another note, the fwd section is definately lacking in the diversity of the engines that go in there. in the past i've seen 3sgte's that where incomplete or build threads that begun only to have no further updates, which i would take as somthing going wrong in the build, builders life etc, the project doesnt get updated. ozone who started this thread is probabally the 1st i've seen tackle the 1mzfe swap. lol actually i was gonna tackle this swap myself until i found a 3sge beams that had everything for $1000.

the only other thing i can see sharing on the fwd section is ways to make the car handle better, however everyone has a different goal, and so i really dont chim in, (and im sure most the ae92 veterns are this way also) until somthing sparks my interest in a thread (that and if i do chim in i type a sH!t load almots going of topic somtimes) . lately there seems to be alot of my car is borken HELPPPPPPP thread going on. not that its wrong to post that, but after awhile it gets tiring see those. build threads are a fresh and interesting thing, and very very welcome. although in this economy its understandable why no ones really touch a 20+ year old fwd car.

F it im going to join the mitsubishi camp.... atlest that way i can have a 12 sec car and read threads about crank walk and such... wait WHAT?

Thanks. I didn't know about the date range thing at the bottom. That helps. At least it makes it look like I'm not the only one who still owns one of these.

Regarding the V6 swap, it's still going ahead. I won't stop unless something really bad happens to me or the car. I'm just kind of slow. Plus I'm doing more than just sticking the engine in. I'm modifying the power windows for instance, so all of them go up and down at the press of a button and now that I've seen it, I'm thinking about having them go up and down with the press of the trunk popper button that came on the key fob for the donor car.

I'm also creating my own custom dash board and fabricating speaker enclosures, etc.

But I keep getting interrupted by other things. Like changing out the tie rods on my wife's Solara and at the moment the Spyder is in the garage. The transmission was dying so I'm replacing it with a 6 speed with LSD. Should be done with that this week and back on track with the swap.

Thanks for the interest.

It doesn't help that most people dont even know fwd 4age corolla's even existed. most people think fast and fwd, they think Honda. They only want a Toyota if it can drift or if its a supra. While I loved them for what they are, I think the first FnF and Initial D are to blame for the stereotypes and the biased midsets against the "other" 4age's.

FX16's are sleeper pocket rockets when you get some stuff under the hood, and the AE92 GTS is one of the better kept secrets out there. aw11 is great too if you can appreciate its styling and you know how to drive one

Thanks, It has to be reupholstered first. It's going to be october before that happens. So it will take a while before I can show the finished product.

It is sad that there are so few build threads and weak amount of info for modding these cars to go fast in different ways but the thread on toyota nation is one of the better ones. Although I am in financial restraint these days, still lurk around these places.

ae91/92, ae82 etc are not exactly popular motorsports cars. These cars adont have a following. The ae86 on the other hand is the reason why the 4age is popular hence why the rwd and 4age forums are so active and not this one. there are a few of us who try to do somethimg different with our fwd corolla but its not exactly the easiest or best supported platform. Hopefully sometime soon i will finally get around to building the ae91 i have been wanting to.

If I wanted a popular 'motorsports' car, I would've defected to Honduh years ago. No chance of that happening...

I think one reason is the lack of aftermarket parts support compared to the 86. Have you ever tried to find stuff for our cars? It's not easy..okay yes I know of Ultra Racing and the like and even have a forged radiator for my swap, but man when I was looking for bushings the only people who had them was superpoly pro. How many times have I been asked, "wow you own a corolla GTS?! Nice! what year?" I respond "'89 GTS" only to be greeted with a sign of awkwardness followed by "oh..fwd right? No it's cool..at least it's still a 4ag." lol I've even heard some very prominent members of this board say stuff about the ff guys not getting it when it comes to cars..sad. BUT hey it's still got a 4ag..it's what brought us here in the first place and I'm always glad to see a nice build up of any ff old toyota. I've sunk way too much money into a car I got for free..well now it's cost me over 7k into my lovely beast and I'm not stopping yet! lol

I'm not that fast....You're just really slow! ;)

well heres what my suspension looks like, the rca kit is from bazda, anyways i think this is all your ever going to need. all i gotta say is the ae92 doesnt have alot of aftermarket support yes, but what they make for it and the companies that do are reputable companies and not junk like apc or tenzo. i mean what do you really need to make a good build? coilovers: we have them, bushings: we have them, well only super pro, engine parts: its a 4age, swaybar: we have them. i really cant see anything else we need. the only other thing i would like a a cf levin hood so i can offset the weight of putting a 3sge in my car. i do think one of my funnest moments this summer was at an autocross when i was hearing kids that semi knew what my car was say: ??? hows that fwd corolla getting the same times as those evo's and corvette. i mean 7 yrs autocross experience did help to but it was funny.

btw i dont care what the rwd guys think, for all i know some of them got their cars cause of initial D, also i dont care about drifting, my driving style is ff. i've owned 2 sw20's and prob gonna get another eventually. and some of the 86 guys seem to think if you own a 86 automatically you should drift your car automatically, its sad cause most the 86 drivers around this area got it as only a drift car and dont even car what the car really is.

Be on the look out for my build post coming soon! My AE92 is in the paint shop getting some fresh paint. Got some JDM goodness on the front and rear. Got some stuff from (EP Importers )

But yeah, the FWD corolla community on this forum is small. If only maybe a handful of us are here. Hehehe.
