Running a 245/60/14 tire in the rear? Reply  Edit

I've been searching and searching and i can't find any info on 14's with a width of 225+ on an AE86. Reason being a 14'' because it's the only size i can find affordable street tires with widths of 225+.
I want something larger than a 225 in the for my car. Just installed +40mm over fenders and i want to fill that massive gap.
I'm thinking (below sizes), each tire is 10mm smaller than the rim for minimal stretch.
F - 225/60/14 - 9J
R - 245/60/14 - 10J

Has anyone had experience with widths of this magnitude? (i posted in the wheel/tire section, but posts are just too slow)

That is a massive amount of tire you're trying to fit! Why do you want that wide? You might have to lift the car to clear them.

Why? Well i have never really understood the point of stretching a tire over a clearly over sized rim, so i go the opposite route. More tire the better is the way i see it, and i just love the look of a massive tire on the rear end.

My car is a stock height for now, but i was only planning a 1'' drop in the future.

If only i had a sample to test...I would much rather have a smaller tire but damn they just don't make them that wide! Someone have a secret source of wide inexpensive tires?

the best i've found is this Supra with 8J - 245/60/14s in the rear. I read in that forum that he sold those wheels to a guy with an AE86, so there is hope...perhaps.

Just found this AE86 running 235/45/16 in the back. That wheel size is still 1.6'' smaller than a 245/60/14! damn...That looks like a tight fit too!
