FR-S Long Drive ALL DAY TOUR OF Los Angeles for OWNERS of FRS/BRZ/AE86!!! Reply Edit

The first-ever official drive tour gathering of Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ and AE86, that takes us through streets, canyon roads, highways and stopping through the most scenic areas in Los Angeles, meeting many other owners and fans along the way. This event will take place on August 5th, 2012 Sunday and will start in the morning and last an entire day, ending at Longo Scion for a car meet with other Toyota/Lexus/Scion owners in the late afternoon.
Official Media will accompany us taking lots of photos and we’ll have plenty of time along the way to share friendship and chat about cars.
This event is exclusive to FRS owners, and registration will be online in limited quantities of 40 spaces, so as to keep it organized and efficient for this event. This will be a first of many to follow that may cover greater distances in the future with more people.

There will be a keepsake collector’s guidebook map of the route, and other memorabilia marking the event for registered participants. Registrations will open on July 7th, and will cost $25 per car, good for one driver/owner and 1 guest. The same amount will be paid out on the day of the event upon check in, with a gas credit card or gift certificates, along with benefits for the event. Lunch and dinner will be catered for registrants.

Timeline:

August 5th, 2012
8am, Owner Check in at Longo Scion
9:30 am Driver's Meeting
10:30 am Start of Drive
5:00 pm End of Drive back at Longo Scion Banquet All-Scion/Toyota/Lexus meet event.

Details of the actual route and checkpoints will be revealed at the morning of the event, presented with a map and route planning kit, and keepsake memorabilia. At the end, a completion certificate. This is not a race or a rally, it is a casual drive tour with checkpoint locations that is easily accessible even with a bit of city traffic, so please keep in mind to drive safely!

There will be NO on-site Registration once the 50 slots are filled with online entries.

Checking out the list on "My Auto Events.com", looks like there's no more slot left. Of the 40 slots available, there's a total of 49 already registered. I guess I'll try next time an event like this comes up.

LOL you obviously didn't read the entire post Drew.... It says it will be paid back out in the form of a gas card or certificate and its free lunch AND dinner so its actually free and then some since you gotta pay for gas to go on the drive anyway.

I increased it to 50, so there are 5 more available at this time.

From Anaheim. I am in as well. I read this, this is good for AE86 owners as well right? I hope I didn't read it wrong. Or is it just the New 86, FRS, and BRZ?

I know right! LOL I wanted to participate in it but Sunday mornings are reserved for church and family time for me.

Moto, will it eventually be a car meet/show at the end of the day where those, who couldn't participate, can come by and check out the rides at the dealership?

If you read carefully what Moto has said in his previous post: "OK the LIST IS OFFICIALLY FULL... couple more room for signup if you are quick.
51 Entries, 2 more to close off."

It looks like there's a space for 2 more entrants before he closes off the registration. I checked myautoevents.com and Moto's registration for this venue is still open, which could only mean you can still enter.

Online is closed, but I'll make an exception, so just send me $25 to moto@club4ag.com and I'll find a few more spaces. I have to cap it soon though since I don't have logistics and space for too many more.

Thanks!!

If I were to drive my '85 GT-S down to Longo in the afternoon, would it be possible to park amongst the returning drivers?

Yes, you can join us at the end of the run at Longo, where we are setting up a meet.

During the LA drive however, tehre will be a few places where parking and entry will be restricted to registered guest only.

So for those that didn't get in this time, lets all meet at 6pm at Longo for the meet!!

Hey Moto-P just wanted to ask why we had to have a cut off for the Tour of LA? Does the City say we can only have 54 drivers?

There are points on the tour, that are exclusive that can only accomodate 100 people, we have 60 cars including staff and media, and passengers too.

It's a growing process, and there will be larger events to come but for now 100 people is about a largest group the staff is able to handle as well, to coordinate may special things for the the attendants.

Imagine it from our end, trying to logistically make 60 drivers move in a single procession in LA Traffic, and at each location to position them according to neat visual elements. It's not just a drive, it's art in motion. :D

Heck, even when my buddies and I would all roll together to JCCS, we would always lose one car and/or one of the cars would break down....and we were just 6 cars deep!!

Yes, the actual drive would be a nightmare to stick in a single procession not only for us but for the city too, so most of that is simplay working off a time-check points, and desitations that are scheduled for ample time. I am only saying though with over 50 cars, the destination logisitcs and parking becomes a big chore to do smoothly with random cars, and this is why I am limiting it just this time, the first time. It will grow as our capabilities increase, and attendants will get more accustomed to this type of events. :D
