It comes with the dry sump pan, front cover & pump. The buyer just needs a tank & lines. Easy(ish)

That's in the neighborhood of 30 G's sitting on that workbench, not including the loose change in the second pic. Machine work costs more than parts, kids.

This one is now sold. An identical one can be built for the same price though

yes i'm serious. if you can build another i'll come see you in person when my schedule is clear (as i work and i'm in new orleans) to prove that i've got the $$$ and then i guess you build the engine at your leisure and i'll come back to pay for and take possession the beast

and can you also do the rebuild for when it's necessary... and it will be necessary after a relatively short while.

My "really" comment was direct at the mpg / 87 Octane question, not yours.
Yes, it is possible to build another identical engine but it would more than likely not be for the same price. This was for sale for this price because it was already built & needed to be sold. To build one in this exact spec would be closer to $13,000.00.
With regards to the rebuild needs of these engines, it's a myth. if your not driving in a single seater at 10,000rpm everywhere, every day there's no reason that they can't do very high mileage. A friend of mine has had on in his car with 15:1 compression for over 4 years ! It's been services a couple of times & that's it. Never gave any trouble etc...

Taka ran his 1st na for 2 full seasons before it started to blow a little smoke.
In a car like a Corolla, it's hard to say but it's not like it would need new rods, pistons & a crank like the Formula cars do. More than likely you would be doing head seals & rings, then throw it back in the car & go.
When an engine is built with nothing but the very best parts by one of the best builders they tend to last quite a while....

JDM-newbie i would think the engine would need at least 105 to run properly but thats just a guess

Just passing by and saw this..

so you mean i.e. like this one http://hasselgren.com/engines-for-sale/ the 4ag found there when dropped in right can last for a while if almost not driven roughly daily with just doing the regular maintenance and such?

If you use the engine in the link & drop it in a Corolla, as long as you are using 105-110 fuel, changing the oil every 2-3k miles & also doing plugs at the same time there's no reason it can't last just as long as a stock 4age. It's prolonged periods of 10,000rpm in a formula chassis that causes the damage

I agree with Billy about engine life. I run NA Hasselgren only 1 season, but turboed 4AG from 2008 to end of 2011.
Here is what I had to do.

2008 and 2009 seasn: Atlantic Head/block modified stock crank/ GZE pistons
oil / spark plugs change every FD event ( c16 effect on plug). Kept the rev limit at 8500 rpm.
Total number of event : 14 FD event, 12-16 practice event.

2010-2011 season: Atlantic Head/block/crank/Wiseco pistons:
oil / spark plugs change every FD event ( c16 effect on plug). Rev limit 9800 rpm.
Total number of event the engine ran: 14 FD event, 20-26 demo/practice.

As long as you have good tuning, reasonable rev limit rpm, and take standard steps for dry sump engine start procedure, Hasselgren 4AG will last at least 2 seasons or more .

Taka,
Thanks for your input. If anyone knows how much abuse a 4age can put up with, you do !

Wouldn't the tune depict the kind of gas used? I mean u wouldn't make the max power on a lower octane of gas but you would still be able to use the lower octane.

Not necessarily because with the compression ratio being between 12:1 & 13:1 for the base engines and up to 15:1 for the top level engines none of them will run on pump fuel. It's not all about the map...
