Not "derp" ...sometimes ppl use stock or other trannys with swaps and sometimes the tranny that goes with the engine wont fit in a car and its easier to use another compatible one. Thats why i asked.

I have all my parts gathered, I have both factory service manuals, but I still have a few questions. With theft the way it is, I was considering retaining the Immobilizer circuit. I have all required parts from the donor s2k. -would I use the s2k steering column or the gts one? -if I use gts column, would I remove the ignition and mount it off the column? -How can I retain the push button start? -i didn't see if you retained a turn signal assembly or if it was functional in the s2k cluster? Has anyone found a straight forward DIY yet? My goal is to use the s2k cluster, Immobilizer, factory ecu, 01-03 ap1 engine w/ stock wiring harness, gts fuel tank/pump/sender. Can anyone help me get this set up?

keep the immobilizer! i mounted my immobilizer underneath my dash. by keeping the immobilizer you also dont have to deal with the CEL created by removing the immobilizer chip

Awesome thanks pirate!I'm going to start slimming the harness down very soon but want to vet as much pre laid out as possible. Know what circuits I'm keeping and which ones to delete. That way once I set down I can stay focused. I know when I'm done ill end up with a hand full of power wires and a hand full of grounds. I just don't want a cell from removing things like srs and ABS. Do you have any available wiring info you could send me?

i have a wiring bible, but its all compiled from both my toyota manual and the honda manual. i only used the main s2k underhood fusebox (the one that goes directly to the starter) and jumped it into my chassis fusebox with two wires (i still get 12V to everything) make sure MAAAKKE SURE, you wire up your ELD correctly, otherwise the alternator wont charge for crap!

i have 05 s2000 engine. i use mr john mount kit so i have to drop the subframe down and you have to use the manual rack. MAKE SURE u use the manual rack brackets not the powersteering bracket with t3 bushing adapter. if you use t3 bushing adapter the engine will not sit all the way down. i found it the hard way. you can use stock gts fuel pump. it works great. just make sure you put a new pump on. abs and air bag wont cause cel. i event cut the connectors from both of them off. the air bag and abs lights do come on the cluster but all you have to do is take out the bulbs from the cluster. i make everything on the cluster work execpt the seat belt. i have completed all my system check like cat, preheated cat, o2, air pump, and evap system. for the alternator wire. i just hook up the stock s2k positive battery wires and stock 16v alternator white wire to the the same positive battery terminal. oh i did the wire my self so my harness might be different than your. i use s2k engine and body wires with s2k ecu and igition key. not the best or neat looking conversion but i have been daily for 80 miles a day for like 2 months and the things hasnt died on me a single time yet.

you also need speedo calibration to fix the mph that is way off because of the different in final drive. it takes off fast just like 4age with 4.7 but with power. rpm wise is close to stock 4age with the stock final drive. i have stock final drive. 66 mph at 4k rpm. i have been getting like 260 miles for 10 gallons of gas.

i had the 4.3 and couldnt stand it. i drive 15 miles per day and cruising at 4k for 65mph was not cool. yeah the car feels peppy, but its definitely not daily drivable. i just built a 8.8 with a 3.90, so freeway cruising will be a lot nicer

Oooh, didn't think of that. I really want to take a look at your car Todd, I need some hints before I tear mine down. Hopefully I'll start taking it apart within the next couple of weeks.

So... just to make sure I have this right, if you pull the immobilizer you will get a CEL? I know mrjohn has removed people's immobilizer, do they have this CEL problem? I have read a thread on ziptied about immobilizer removal (with contributions from mrjohn) and would like to do this... sans the CEL. Thoughts?

my ae86 f22 is my daily driving car at 86 miles a day. i am putting about 430 miles a week on it. its has stock s2k cat. its running great. its almost the same as stock 4age on rpms because of the final drive. 4age in ae86 is alway at high rpms at highway speed. i am going to bar it on the end of this month by the way. tag is due in july.

This is what I'm trying to do to. From what I've gathered when you send your wiring to Mr. John he can set it up for you like this if you'd like.

you cannot remove the immobilizer and not have a CEL. i searched high and low for an answer, but couldnt find anything on s2ki or hondatech.

yea 4.3 was still too high for me. I was on 195/60/15 Toyo RA1 (fat fat tires), I'm dropped down to 3.90 to make the power usable on the track. one quick example as to why the 4.3 isn't a good idea. At Thunderhill Raceway, I'm having to go into 6th gear on the back straight. I'm doing A LOT of shifting, I'd like to milk my gears and stay between 3rd and 5th at most. At times between the fast sections I'm really going from 6th to 3rd gear. Not cool at all.
In comparison, to the AP1s and AP2s I'm on the track with, they are constantly in 3rd or 4th gear, with some of them shifting into 5th on the long straight away. ____________________ Now, with the way youre driving your car, putting 430 miles on per week, you could probably be saving a ton of gas if you geared down and made the power more usable. Otherwise, I'm glad your car is running, but there is still so much more potential to your car if you geared your FD down to a 3.90 or even 3.77

If you plan on sticking with 15s, the 4.3 will make you hate life. 3.9 is good, right now I'm on a 3.7, I'm liking it so far, sticking with 15s but thinking about moving up to either 16 or 17. I'm turbo so the longer gear makes the boost feel awesome. IMO stock f20-22 and 15s, 3.9 should be perfect.

Corollin, I'm currently using an AE86 GTS rear end with a 3.7. So far it's holding up ok, but my last R&P (4.3) i tore teeth off the pinion gear.Currently i'm in the process of building a Celica-Supra rear end, it's going to have a 3.9 (the 3.9 currently was in the rear end when i bought it)
