Recommend shop in socal that can install Haltech or Microtech or similar ecu Reply  Edit

I am currently running a silvertop with Megasquirt and I'm looking at changing to a Haltech or Microtech (or similar) ecu. I'm looking for a shop in socal that can get the standalone, install and tune it. What shops do you guys recommend? I'd like a shop that has experience with the 4ag and wiring standalones. Thanks.

SR motorcars in Gardena can get the haltec, and Steve there can tune and install it.

The other shop I'd recommend is JSP (john rusakoff's shop) out in the SD area. I guess it depends on where you are closer to, but both are Haltech dealers and both can install and tune the car for you.

I think even both the guys have base maps to start with.

I have a Microtech it is a nice unit but I would advise against getting one. I ordered mine and it took months to get it, on top of that they woiuldnt awnser my e-mails or calls, They have HORRIBLE customer service! And if anything goes wrong you have to send it to australia and wait forever to get it back. On top of all that each ecu only works on the type of engine you specify for example you found a good deal on a used one but its for a 3sgte... it wont work. Also I was very scared to wire everything up myself but after a bunch of runarounds trying to get it wired I wound up doing it myself, Its not that hard if you take it one step at a time and take your time, plus it'll save you about 500$ wiring it yourself

Does SR motorcars have experience with 20v's and 4ag's?

I've contacted John and he said he could do it for me.

Barry, actually you're one of the first people I thought about but you're too far away.

Does Nelson at RRR have experience with 20v's? I'm looking for people with particular experience with 20v's

yeah. if there are a few of you guys that want to get together a dyno day i can go down there one of these weekends.

haltech's...i can do easily. other brands please provide software with working laptops if possible.

a few guys from different states asked to fly me out to tune, but its rather difficult and not worth my while to jump on a plane for one car. i would rather knock out multiple cars at once.

Before you decide to ditch megasquirt, maybe I might be able to help you with whatever issues you might be having. I helped tune Steve's car, and just tuned a BMW M3 last weekend. If it's something minor, might be worth the extra effort. Let me know.

I have a Microtech LT10S, and live in Colorado. Do any of you guys know anyone in the area that can tune this for a 4agze? My car is running overly rich and the only adjustment that seems to make any difference is advancing the timing, but I don't wanna overly advance my timing and blow up my engine. Any advice on shops or tuning it is GREATLY appreciated.

There's another place near Team BOSO and TOYSPORT in Gardena. I can't recall the name of the dyno/tune shop but it's in the same business complex. I'll let you know the name of the place once it comes across my mind; that place is legit fo sho.

i essentially upgraded to E8(originally went with E6), i went with LS2 coils, you need coil connector harness, spark plug/ wires, fuel pump (other one blew up during tuning). you need a Haltech RA10 reluctor adapter. Install the following sensors: map, coolant and air-temp. and like $40 bucks worth of gas for dyno tuning. These are just Parts, NOT LABOR. Labor wise was this: ECU wiring, LS2 pack wiring and mounting, chassis harness wiring including alternator, spark plug wire fab and trimming, RA10 reluctor adapter install, o2 sensor welding onto exhaust, DYNO TUNING (FLAT RATE), oil change, spark plug change/gaping, and oil pump replacement(including removal of gas tank).

you need to contact them to schedule an appointment or something because these guys are constantly busy with dyno tuning. My car was down for several months because i was lacking parts during install on Haltech components (AE86 wise). Usually they'll have it done in a week?
