Yeah I "corrected" that in a subsequent post... and as far as the 442 goes, my grade 11 chemistry teacher drove a 1970 442 convertible - red with black racing stripes. He brought it in to school one day so we could look at it while we were doing a "supplemental lab" on the colligative properties of antifreeze, comparing ethylene glycol to propylene glycol.Oh and in continuing with my rally theme: Subaru Legacy WRC - Colin McRae's chariot to his first WRC victory at a time when it was largely a noncompetitive car due to its large size Skoda Fabia WRC - it looks cool and I can't help but pull for the underdog (very very big underdog) car.

Mitsubishi Starion ESI-R
Not just a purveior of cheap FMIC's to hondas; the 1986 to 1989 Mistubishi Starion ESI-R (Euro Sport Intercooled - Rally) and Chrysler Conquest TSI twin cars boasted 200 hp 250 lb/ft of torque from a turbocharged 4 cilinder engine. They also came with RWD and an LSD. Interestingly enough the car has some Group B rally pedigree and was the first home to the legendary 4G63 engine.

Just came from Barnes & Noble and now I remember why I hate that place. No books about Japanese Cars!! There was a couple of books about classics and there were Europeans and Domestics but nothing from Japan! It was a sportscar book. How dare they!! Just went there to get my CBEST book so I can pass the test and preach to young children about vintage cars, lug patterns, undeerster and other cool stuff.

One of the least known Porsches from the 70's ,the 914. One of the few Mid-engine Porsches during that decade. Joint venture project of Porsche and Volkswagen. Perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Boy do i miss my Saturn Yellow 74' Porsche 914 w/ a Air Cooled, Fuel Injected, Flat 4 Boxer Engine. But my dream 914 would be the one shown below, with GT fender flares, Fiske rims and powered by a modern day boxer engine (EJ20t). This is a 1900lb car w/ 300hp engine. These little cars handle like they were on rails! Other engine swaps have included: Porsche flat 6's, rotaries, small block Chevy V8's, LS1's, subaru flat 6's, Buick V6's, and many other possibilities! Such a simple and fun car! They dont make cars like these anymore!
 An LS6 powered 914:

Hehe.. I was about to write a post about the same car... we used to have one too.Ours was only 1.4cc though. Mitsubishi Lancer SL. Those things are indestructible! Not easy to find aftermarket stuff though, unlike the ae86. There are still some fans of the car left in Europe, it seems. http://www.lancerregister.com/...id=31 There's this guy in the local mitsu club who has a JDM Lancer EX 2000 Turbo.

here's another nice one that's also powered by a Subaru EJ20T, this was sanded down to bare metal and then clear coated, and the coolest thing on this car is that it had a speed actuated and brake spoiler that is blended into the rear trunk. I'll see if i can find a video on it. Here's a pic more here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2361780

That was my first car, a 914-6 with dual webers. Bought it from a guy that couldn't get it smogged and I was exempt from smog in my area. It was really fun when I wasn't having to constantly fix it. Made me feel like a pimp in high school rolling in it. I had to sell it because all my money went into fixing with no sight of repairs ever ending. I think I could handle it now, but parts are still expensive, even when they were volkswagon/audi made.

Tell me about the repairs! I spent just as much time repairing as driving. I went through two engines one 1.7L w/ Djet Fuel Injection and the second a 2.0L w/ Djet Fuel Injection. Parts are easy to come by if you know where to look at. I still frequent http://www.914club.info and when i ever i've find spare parts for a 914 i just put it up there or ebay to sell. And all but 2 years of the 914 are now smog exempted in California. From 1970-1974 they're smog exempted. There's some pretty crazy engine swaps for 914's! I sure do miss my little go-cart. Here's a few pictures of my previous Saturn Yellow 1974 Porsche 914 2.0:

My other friend use to own the white 74', but after his came down w/ engine trouble and so did i we both sold them. Now he drives a 97' Honda Civic EX and ive got my 89' Toyota Corolla GTS.

I love these cars. At the time the M-coupe's had the best power to weight ratio of any BMW and the stiffest chassis BMW ever created. It had great oddball styling too with it's clown shoe hatchback shape that kept away the posh 'I want to be seen in a BMW' crowd and it had massive wheel arches that look as if they were ripped from a turbo 911 and huge tires to fill them in so the enthusiasts would know something was up even before spotting the M badge.

Love that M coupe - I remember when it first came out, the reviews were all some variation on "it's ugly as sin but it's a blast to drive."I think it's actually quite good looking, in an oddball way, but then again I think our Corollas are really good looking cars, too.
