I think I'd hit 130mph if I was lucky. Sigh.

Really? With my old 16v I hit 125... and it was still accelerating when I let off.

Nice build tho.

Andrew

p.s. I don't recommend or condone trying it... do as I say, not as I do . Unless your on a race track, then go for it!

p.p.s. Sorry about the response to such an old post... didn't realize the date until afterwards.

For what ever reason, I think my blacktop is only giving about 140 at the crank. I am dropping some cams in very soon so hopefully I will at least be up to what the engine is rated at from the factory.

Stand Alone ECU tuning. Message me for details.

Not for the quality of it, but for what it shows, this is the best picture ever taken of my car in action.

It was taken early last year at Palmela Go-Kart Track.

So you want to run a F20 or F22 swap? Always remember what HASportAE86 said:
It costs alot.
It's very fast.
Don't do it if you drive at an amatuer level. Honestly. You'll just suck...or crash...or suck and crash.

is your "econ" light your shift light?

Yes, that is correct. Both ECON and PWR lights were made to function as shift lights with the megasquirt.

They light up at 8500. The rev limiter is at 8900.

that's crazy!

What has your fuel economy been like? Is it much worse with such large cams?

I don't know if you saw it, but a company in the US is making a tall 5th gear for the t50..... .734 vs .87 stock. If this would be good for you look in the "general tech" section of this forum.

Well, I have no worries regarding fuel consumption because I rarely drive the car. But it isn't as bad as it sounds, because I have my megasquirt tuned with closed loop for TPS below 40%. That way, I can get good mileage for long journeys. 9 Liters per 100 Kilometers which is around 26 mpg.

That said, the tall 5th gear makes no sense, because this car's use is mostly at the track.

spent the time going through the build looks great! Looking at your latest photos I think you should get a higher spring rate or bigger front sway bar...

in two of your pictures you can see the heavy body roll of your car - one of them the front tires is coming off the ground! I dont know what springs rates or sway bar your running but i would say try a bigger sway on the front to keep both your tires planted and maybe up your rates a notch to even out that roll ..

It is my belief that you have to find a compromise between body roll and suspension stiffness to maximize grip.

I've got greddy coilover kit with 8F/6R and stock sway bars.

I don't think I'll benefit from uprating the suspension stiffness because I think I'll lose grip, and body roll I got doesn't seem so bad. At least I find the car a joy to drive as is.

Thank you for your input though.

stiffer front sway bar will make the wheel lift worse, not better.

I'm of the belief that if the car is balanced, there isn't much to be gained by having the front wheel just slightly on the ground vs off it....

the only thing that is "wrong" is droop travel no? I mean the suspension at full extension still can't reach the ground...that or he just bounced off the curb when someone snapped the pic...hahahhaa

The wheel in the air is something common on live axle RWD's.

It's been always like that and as Grant said... there's not much to gain from having that wheel on the ground.
