As shown by FujiwaraEightSix and Assassin10000, this mod is absolutely possible. This is just my 'experience' in installing them. Here are links to previous discussions on them:http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=16867

Once upon a time in a magical land called The Bay Area, Turtle made an instructional video on how to install some pedals.

----------
So you bought your brand spanking new IS300, MR-S or Celica GT-S pedals directly from Toyota? Or did you pick up a used set from eBay or someone parting out his irresponsibly crashed car on Craigslist? Good! Now let's install them. Since I'm more of a DIY storyteller and not an actual step-by-step DIYer, here today to show you how is my new instructional assistant, Shelly.

And yes, Shelly comes with a theme song.

Ready, Shelly?

Uhhh, Shelly says 'yes'.
First, a before shot of the old, tired 25 year old pedals from the factory. meh to you, fugly pedals.
Remove the old pedals. The clutch and brake pedals can be removed with little effort. They are basically slip-covers.

Remove the entire throttle pedal assembly by first undoing the throttle cable from its bracket in the engine bay.

Then remove the throttle cable from the throttle assembly. remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the assembly to the body, and voila. it is removed. Interesting to know that your life hangs in the balance of two tiny bolts.

Next, take your IS300, MR-S or Celica GT-S, in this case the Celica GT-S pedals and inspect them. You may wanna clean them later. If they're new, then kudos to you, no cleaning will be needed.
Next, you'll need a vise, and a striking tool. A rubber mallet will suffice. Most importantly, you'll need a punch. One that's big enough to drive out a small rod that holds the gas pedal to the assembly, but not too big as to ruin the bore on the pedal itself:
Next, as Shelly will demonstrate, you need to drive out small the rod out from the side of the pedal.

You will need to repeat this process with the Corolla's throttle assembly.

Next, clean the pedals. You never know what kinda disgusting gangrene feets pressed against them. Soapy water and a toothbrush will do the trick. Again, if you spent a little extra for new pedals from the dealer, you can skip this step.

Time to add the gas pedal to the Corolla's throttle assembly. This particular one did not go on easy. It will work, but a small amount of elbow grease is required to get it all lined up. Hammer in the rod and your throttle assembly is ready to go.
Next, install the clutch and the brake pedals. This will be a very tight fit in a confined space, but don't get discouraged.

Here's a hint, Shelly. Stick them in sideways.

That's better!
Lastly, install the throttle pedal by bolting it in with the two 10mm bolts, and re-attach the throttle linkage.
And there you have it! Your pedals are updated and ready for your stinky feet!

Say goodnight, Shelly. Peace in your hood.
