very nice!!Curious if you are gonna relocate the starter on the 2s bellhousing. The beams head has that oil drain that may get in the way. also, what computer are you going to be running?

Nope... not planning on relocating the starter. I'm getting ready to machine a new plate that goes between the engine and transmission that will match the 2s bell housing and starter location. And for the ecu I'm going with an Adaptronics e420c. It's one of the only ones I could find to control the dual vvti. I just ordered a flywheel and clutch so hopefully I can get the engine and tranny put together and get the engine mount brackets/subframe modified.

me too! i wish there was a way to fit it without messing up the tunnel, heard if you lower the x member by about 1" it "should" fit. interested to see your adapter plate for the starter. maybe you fab up 2 ?

I'm spacing my subframe down 1.125". I machined my own subframe spacers. Here's a pic:
And a pic of my refurb strut tubes and the nrca's I machined for myself because I'm a cheap-ass and hate spending money on parts I can make myself.

From what I've seen so far the engine height is a factor. Mounting it high enough to have clearance between the oil pan and the subframe/steering rack sets both the engine and transmission too high to clear the hood and firewall/tunnel.I just picked the engine up last Thursday and I'm waiting on my clutch and flywheel to come in before I set everything under the hood to confirm everything above. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I get to make the plate between the engine and tranny so as much as I want to get this thing in it'll most likely be a few weeks.

yep, thats what i have been looking into as well from seeing all the beams swaps over in NZ. Also, i hear that you have to trim some of the oil pan webbing to clear the steering rack as well. are you using a clutch and flywheel for a sxe10 (rs200) or a std clutch and flywheel from an mr2? im not sure if i am being a pest here askin you all these questions, so i apologize in advance for that.

You're not being a pest... your mention of the oil pan trimming means you've been looking at Bill Sherwood's swap pics. I'm not planning to do that to mine. Just from looking at his pics it looks like he only spaced his subframe .500" or so and chose to shave the oil pan and mount the engine closer to the crossmember.Again I'll find out more when I get the engine into my car and start trying to get the mount brackets made. I bought an aftermarket flywheel and clutch for an MR2 turbo and I'm still not sure how everything is going to work out.

Yes... it bolts straight up. I'm only making the cover plate that goes behind the flywheel to match the 2s bell housing to the beams motor so it will look like it came that way.

Looking really good, I was wondering what you were talking about before but the pictures really clear things up.I had a couple questions now that I've seen it all though: Your header will probably be custom-made. Are you going to make a piece that will allow you to connect it to any exhaust made for the Corolla? You decided to ditch A/C, does that mean you're going to get rid of any other amenities too? Are you going to run a full interior? Are you going to have to run a tach adaptor to allow the RPMs to display on your Digi Cluster? Sorry if you've already covered this, I have a piss poor memory. I'll think of more later I'm sure.
