It's costing me about $2,000. It's not all done yet, the polishing and all that will come last.

I like what you did with your Watanabes, I wanted to go all matt silver, but I might do leave the centres darker now..

Yeah, they cleaned all the rust, but there was very little. Just two tiny patches around the rear window.

Very immaculate paint job.

By the way Rex, I hope you do know the OP of this thread is located in Dubai. Unless you're willing to ship your car there to have them paint it?

Dirty, but it's still progress...

What the hell is this paper clip looking thing? I've only got one, but need a pair. What do I ask for at the parts shop?

Today I bought a couple of parts from Al Futtaim (I also got a TRD catalog from them so we'll see what I can order in the future), mainly this gasket kit (this is some picture I found on the net, same thing...)

And I finally ordered the Prothane bushing kit, something I was supposed to do 3 months ago. It'll take a couple weeks to arrive.

This week I'm also busy getting an aluminium two-fan radiator and sending everything off for porting and polishing. So for me this is a huge step forward considering I'm broke, and great progress for one month, even though there isn't much to show for it.

The engine has now left to the shop for machining and all that.

I need a new water pump. The local Toyota dealer will need a month to order from Japan. Does anybody know the part number for the AE111 pump?

SSR Mesh baby, for $100! These are definitely going on, but I'll need spacers

A broom stick holding up the bonnet...

I like engine pics... (it will look nicer when it's been cleaned up and detailed)

Basically, a boxload of wires has been taken out of the car, everything's been heat wrapped, new AC compressor, new plumbing, new belts, new full bushing kit is about to be put on, and the shop reckons the interior shouldn't be a big problem, nor the half-cage that I want to stiffen up the really wonky rear end of this car. It runs, but I don't want to drive it until the new rims and tyres are fitted and everything's aligned.

The only things that are OK are the seats, Tom's steering wheel, new carpet, and shift knob. The rest is too shot to use, or just not there. So need to source all new stuff, or fabricate things like door cards... Oh, did manage to get some new trim from Toyota, but mostly window trim.

Here's some old and new pics:
