looks like a tC, a yaris, and zzt celica had blind sex and produced this baffling creature!1.5L 2NZ? holy smokes, a new xB can outrun this! only a 2.0L+ G head engine to combat the K20 or F20-F22 will do
My RHDJapan.com receipt said: "Your order # is: 100001986". The AE86 gods really are looking out for me.

Well, I can see what they may be trying to do...sale it with low power so YOU have to invest in TRD Superchargers or Turbos. We must concider; if the AE86 Next Gen does materializes, what do we all know the mayority be doing with them just as they are driven off the dealership!?!?!? DRIFTING!!!! DRAGGING (Civics)!!! And this mare fact Toyota knows it and they will be dealing with warranty issues that Toyota knows will be produced by this kind of treatments. So they will sale it with low HP and if the owner want to "Play" with it, the warranty is void, unless of course you pay dealership prices to get more HP out of your new AE86!! Never the less if it does comes out, as slow as it could be I would still buy it!! HP can be incresed later on...some how!! Which I bet there will be plenty of aftermarket parts once Toyota Starts building it. There's a huge AE86 Fever going on and a new Gen would fill aftermarket production companie's pockets really fast!!!

I hope they don't. And if they do, I hope it has at most 150hp, because really...that's what makes us men is 100hp AE86's that can kick it out and hold a drift.

once I stopped and thought about it for a while. It makes sense that Toyota releases it with the 2nz motor. It will be like the SR-5 which made its debut a year prior to the GTS. Look at the numbers 120hp @ 6500rpm. That 6500rpm doesnt sound very AE86ish. The AE86 is a screamer and we all know that Toyota can make engines that rev half way past the sun. The stock 1985 GT-S revved higher than that. Unless you all expect to buy a stroker kit to make it a true 1.6 and invest in building a good head that will rev to high heaven. In which case comapnies making these kits are going to be rich.

Those magazines love to tease the "Kuruma Baka" or car enthusiast because we're all about the nostalgia of the AE86 and are interested everytime rumors of new cars arise. Those magazines are full of half-truths, they're like tabloids about cars.I don't believe it until I actually see commercials or cars that will actually go into production at the L.A. Auto Show.

well if it remains an "AE" code, only the enthusiasts will know what it is, and it is called a corolla so it will be sold in general as most people are buying new corollas now...its not like its not gonna be popular...maybe not to enthusiasts but to the general public its just a new model corolla. i wish they add more power too, maybe 160-200?
futhermore, the same ae86 type light bumpers and small body it could very well break the 1000kg mark, just believe. this is all just concept anyhow. SHOWROOM pls!

the way i understand it. There are a few inside Toyota that want to get this idea aprooved. The only thing keeping them from doing so is the marketing people saying that it will not work and that there is no market for a car like that. The other group is the bean counters.

The next toyota corolla will NEVER be rwd anymore... The predecessor of the '07 corolla will again be FWD. Even if toyota came out with a new body style for the corolla, it will never come close to looking like the AE86.Bottom line, we are still lucky coz we are the ones who have RWD corolla's. If you ask me, the photoshopped corolla in the link looks ugly.

I haven't been here in a while. I just read about this info(rumor) on autoblog. Just wanted to spread the news which might be new or old to some since I did a search and couldn't find any story related to this. It would be nice if Toyota would try designing new cars in rwd platform again considering the new Hyundai Tiburon are coming out in rwd and others. What are your thoughts? http://www.autoblog.com/2007/0...ails/

There are several topics that relates to the so-called "New AE86" or "New RWD Toyotas", but so far all is just reports and no real production. Over the past few years, there's not even a concept car for the RWD Corolla shown on most cars shows. This matter is almost like the time when there were rumors about revival of the Toyota Supra which suppose to go on head-to-head with Nissan's 350Z and so far none is in the works. There were magazine photos of the Concept Supra car and even spy pictures, but all were in vain when I read in one of the forums a formal letter from Toyota expressing their intention in the future and disclosing that there's no such thing as the revival of the Supra. So for now, all these so-called "Rumors" aren't justified unless it's seen in production and I actually see it out on the streets. I hate it when I have my hopes and expectations high only to be shot down in the end because it's not gonna come true. It's ridiculous.
